No balloons this year...

Apparently NH passed a law forbidding balloon launches. This is too bad, as it's such a huge part of the NH Walk. In keeping with the idea, what does everyone think about letting butterflies go?

This was done at my nephew's wedding, and it was beautiful. Plus, I suppose it's better for the environment, and oh yeah, legal! Butterflies can be mail ordered.

Any thoughts?

Memorial Tent

Other chapters around the country are adding something called a Memorial Tent to their Walk. It’s a great way to honor those we have lost. Families can contribute photos, stories, etc. and we put them on display.

I mentioned the idea to Jane Durfey and she thought it would be something she would like to take on as her project. She will brainstorm on it for a bit, and present a formal proposal for this addition at our next meeting.

What are your thoughts? Do you like the idea?

Corporate Sponsors --- any luck?

How is everyone doing getting Corporate Sponsors for the walk? Last night during the national chair telephone meeting, we were told statistically, you need to make contact with corporations at least 7 times before they will take notice.

1. Have you approached the company you work for to see if they will sponsor you?
2. Think of your friends and family. Could you ask any of them?
3. Make an appointment with a company to visit with them, show them the video, ask if they will be a sponsor. If not a sponsor, how about forming a walk team?

Does anyone have any leads so far?
